Multiple services offered by the Child and Family Focus team are designed to assist children and adolescents who are dealing with behavioral problems, severe emotional disorders, and substance abuse. Our Child and Adolescent programs focus on helping youth and their families through challenges and crises, and finding the necessary coping skills, communication techniques, and inner strength to succeed. Child and Family Focus offer a variety of outpatient treatment services for youth and their families. Licensed staff members work with children and adolescents to enhance their mental, emotional, and social functioning by giving them the tools they need to succeed.
    
Treatment services are provided by a two-person team through intensive treatment interventions in the family's home or in the therapeutic foster home. Our therapists work with youth, children, women and families through individual, group, and family therapy. Using a variety of interventions including art therapy, play therapy, and cognitive behavioral intervention, we are able to work with even the youngest children. With all of our programs, safety is an important goal. We work with families to develop safety plans to keep their children safe. We also work with children to help them learn to keep themselves safe. In addition, we focus on healing and on reducing trauma symptoms.

• Community Based, Family Preservation Services

The Child and Family Focus team is experienced in providing successful reunification services to adolescents who have been involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of Family and Children Services. Child and Family Focus is a sub-contractor provider for the delivery of Comprehensive Child and Family Assessments and Wrap Around treatment.

This service is an intensive team approach, consisting of licensed therapist and a parent aid or Para-professional staff member. This unique treatment allows the child and family to gain the necessary skills to successfully reunify and avoid future legal and relational difficulties. The goal of therapeutic services is a means to avoid future placement out of the home.  This treatment is preformed prior to discharge and then in the home and community youth’s following the more restrictive or out of home placement. Focus of treatment is placed on the overall family dynamics and functioning, thus supporting the re-education of each individual in the family.

Some examples of our community based services are as follows

• Work with schools to develop academic programs that are designed specifically to challenge the student's strengths and overcome weaknesses.
• Work with teachers and parents to create a positive atmosphere both at school and at home;
• Provide counseling to resolve personal, family or school issues, which interfere with academic progress.
• Assess a student's cognitive and emotional strengths and weaknesses to determine an appropriate program to meet specific needs.
• Meet with family members, students and staff to better understand and address the needs of students.
• Make Recommendations on helping their children benefit from educational options, behavioral strategies and communication skills.
• Teach and model Love and Logic parenting strategies for effective parenting. situations.
